OpenERP is a leading open source ERP system with more than 350 modules. It has a reporting engine based on open office. But the reporting engine is little weak in its capabilities. Also it lacks Business Inetllignece support, Jaspersoft is an industry leading open source tool for advanced reporting and Business Intelligence. It is the world’s most widely used BI software, with more than 9 million product downloads worldwide and more than 11,000 commercial customers in 96 countries.
The Jaspersoft Business Intelligence Suite builds on JasperReports and iReport, the world’s most popular open source Java reporting library and graphical report designer, to provide a comprehensive family of Business Intelligence (BI) products.
We wanted better reporting capabilities and ability to do business intelligence with OpenERP. So we thought it would be good to integrate these products. We achieved the following
1. Seamless integration betweem OpenERP and jasperServer
2. Single sign on for OpenERP and JasperServer
3. Leverage iReport tool for report creation and put the created report in the hjasperServer Repository
4. ccess control for JasperReports
5. Ad hoc and dynamic reporting capability for OpenERP use
